On April 1st in France, people (mainly children) use paper fish to play an April Fools trick. This involves sticking a paper fish onto the back of as many adults as possible. And then running away yelling “Poisson d’Avril !”. This is a fun way of bringing a  usually unrecognised french tradition to the public attending Vive le Fringe. Using this tradition as the inspiration for the design makes it very intriguing to a viewer as it is not expected.
